Cedar Lane 4-H is holding a Super Bowl Shootout fundraiser on February 2, 2019 at the Cajun Haven Range and Shooting Club in Markham, Texas (Matagorda County). The Texas 4-H Youth Development Program will once again host 4-H Day at the Capitol on Thursday, March 14, 2019. This event is designed as a citizenship experience for 4-H members of all ages to learn more about the state legislative process, as well as meet their state representative and/or senator through an office visit.

Because this event is held during the legislative session and other organizations/groups are at the capitol on the same day, the number of participants (youth and adults) must be limited. Registration will open on 4-H CONNECT on January 9, 2019 at 5:00 pm and will remain open until January 25, 2019 or until the event is filled. (In recent years, the event was full within the first 24 hours of being opened). 4-H Day at the Capitol is open to the first 250 youth and 50 adults registering for the event.

Applications are now being accepted for Mission Possible Camp Mentors. Youth who will have completed the 8^th grade in May or June of 2019 are eligible to apply. Mentors will work with the Mission Possible Leadership team and Texas 4-H Center Summer Staff to provide a safe and fun environment for all! Mentors will attend a training starting on June 30^th and then attend Mission Possible camp July 1-3 working with the other mentors and campers.

This year the application is a google form and can be found on the 4-H Center Website- texas4hcenter.tamu.edu. Click on the “Camps” button and then scroll down and click the “Mission Possible Mentor Service Learning Opportunity”. The application will be submitted upon completion. All applications are due on March 19^th and applicants will be notified with a decision by April 2^nd.

The District 11 4-H program is pleased to announce the 2019 Photography Contest. This contest is open to Junior and Intermediate 4-H members only. Senior 4-H members will go directly to the state contest.

Registration is February 1 – March 1, 2019 for a fee of $10 per participant. Late registration is March 2 – 8, 2019 for an additional $25 fee.

Photography contest judging will take place online March 11 – 15, 2019. Placing entries will be electronically displayed at the District 11 Spring Spectacular event on Saturday, April 13th in Victoria.

The 2nd Annual TNT Swine Showdown will be held on January 5, 2019 at the Friar Ag Center in Cuero, Texas. Check-in is 6:00 – 8:00 AM. For further details and registration information, see flyer. District 9 is hosting an Invitational Quiz Bowl event on Saturday, January 12, 2019 in Huntsville. It will follow the new game play rules that were released this summer. Four categories will be offered; Beef, Swine, Horse and Food and Nutrition.

This will be a great opportunity for teams to become more familiar with the new game play rules.

• Registration will be conducted via 4-H Connect and should be done by an Adult Volunteer Leader or Agent.
• Register by team, not by kid.
• $40.00/ team.
• Registration will open on December 1^st and close January 7^th.
• On-site registration will be $60.00/team

The District 11 Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship Training will be held December 10 at 12 noon and 6:30 pm here:  https://agrilife-tamu.webex.com/meet/Meredith.Carter.  The training will be recorded and posted to the trainings page on the D11 4-H website the next day.

Registration is now open for the 2018 District 11 Archery Match to be held December 13 & 15, 2018 at the DeWitt County Fairgrounds in Cuero, TX. All youth are required to register on 4-H Connect.

Regular registration is open through November 30, 2018 for $20 per youth. Late registration is December 1-9, 2018 for an additional $25. For more information visit: D11 Archery.

Register for the 4-H Hunting Project Coach training, held in College Station on December 8 – 9, 2018, to become a certified leader in your county. Registration is on 4-H Connect. All registrants must be enrolled as 4-H members or adult volunteers on 4-H Connect and have a current Youth Protection background check. This process takes time to complete so begin now by working with your local county Extension office!
