Mission River Classic Steer and Heifer Show

Livestock Judging Contest – Colorado County Fair

The Colorado County Fair will host a Livestock Judging Competition on September 9th, 2017.  Please note the date is several weeks earlier than usual – the entire fair has been moved several weeks earlier.

Cost is $6 per contestant (scantrons provided).

Registration is day-of only.

The contest will be held at the fairgrounds – 1146 Crossroads Blvd., Columbus, TX.

2017-2018 Texas 4-H Photography Contest Rules and Guidelines

The 2017-2018 Texas 4-H Photography Rules and Guidelines are posted on-line at the following site:  https://texas4-h.tamu.edu/projects/photography-video/

Highlights of significant changes for 2017-2018 include:

·         Significant changes in the categories which photographs can be entered.  The categories for 2017-2018 are:

1.       Animals – Domestic

2.       Animals – Wildlife (this category will now include aquatic and marine animals)

3.       Catch-All (this category should not be used to enter photos that clearly align to another one of the categories).  It is designed for misc photos which do not clearly fit into another category.

4.       Details & Macro

5.       Dominant Color

6.       Elements of Design

7.       Enhanced (NEW) – formally the Digital Darkroom category

8.       Food

9.       Landscape & Nature

10.   Motion/Action (NEW) – photo capturing movement within a single photo

11.   People

12.   Plant/Flora

13.   Sports – photo that captures individual or team sports. 

14.   Theme – the theme for 2017-2018 is “BACKYARD.”  This creative category will feature photos what one would see when stepping out into your back yard.

15.   Travel & Place (NEW) – category includes images that express the joys and adventures of travel photography, showcasing place as an important part of the photo. 

·         Changes in the resolution and size of photographs:

1.       Resolution must be a minimum of 300 dpi high quality (print quality).

2.       Photograph size must be 3:2 (4”X6”) or 5:4 (8”x10”) ratio (either landscape or portrait).

Entries for the contest will be completed through 4-H CONNECT from the time period of April 1, 2018 to April 15, 2018.  Entry fee is $10.00 per photography.

District 11 4-H T-Shirt Design Contest

Get your creativity flowing and enter the District 11 4-H T-Shirt Design Contest! The winner will be selected by D11 4-H Council Officers and will have their design showcased on the back of every 2017-2018 D11 4-H event t-shirt! They will also receive a $50 gift card.

2017 Washington County Fair Open Junior Steer and Heifer Show

The 2017 Washington County Fair Open Junior Steer and Heifer Show (TCCA Sanctioned Double Show) is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2017 and is open to all Texas 4-H and FFA members. New this year, a non-registered commercial heifer class will be offered for anyone with halter commercial heifers. The postmark entry deadline is September 1st and there is a $10.00 per entry per show late fee for entries on site.

Guadalupe County 4-H Livestock Judging Contest

The Guadalupe County 4-H Livestock Judging Contest will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Marion Country Church Arena in Marion, TX. This is a new location which is about 12 miles from Seguin. Any 4-H or FFA member that resides in the state of Texas is eligible. Pre-registration deadline is September 18.

District 11 Shooting Sports Meeting – Aug 27 2pm

The District 11 Shooting Sports program (Archery, Rifle, & Shotgun)  will host its annual meeting August 27, 2017 at 2 pm in Victoria at the 4-H Activity Center (259 Batchelor Drive, Victoria TX 77904) All shooting sports leaders are welcomed to attend.  It is encouraged at least one leader from each discipline attend to hear new information. Calendars will be set for rifle and archery at that time also.

Fayette County Food Challenge
