Tractor Supply Company Announces 2017 “Great Neighbor” Essay Contest

March 28, 2017 by annette.cayard

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (March 24, 2017) — Tractor Supply Company, the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States, has just announced the launch of its first ever ‘Great Neighbor’ essay contest. The competition is a new component of the retailer’s Mobile Fair Tour — a 19-stop journey across the United States that will begin its route June 8 in Illinois and conclude Oct. 22 in Arkansas.

Beginning Friday, March 24, Tractor Supply is asking 4-H and FFA members living in or near one of its 19 fair stops to submit essays in response to the following question: What does 4-H/FFA mean to you, and how has your organization allowed you to be the best neighbor you can be in your community?

Tractor Supply will use the essay contest to select five winners per fair stop to be recognized during a special ceremony at their respective state or county fair. Winners will be presented with a commemorative certificate and TSC gift pack.

“We are excited to kick off this new contest, targeted to 4-H and FFA youth who play such an important role in the communities we serve,” said Tractor Supply’s Director of Store Marketing Lisa White. “It’s an honor for TSC to recognize their hard work and passion around making our communities all they can be.”

Eligible 4-H and FFA members have until Monday, April 24, at 5 p.m. CST to submit an essay.

To submit an essay, review contest rules and regulations and view a list of fair stops, visit www.tractorsupply.com/fairtour.

Raise Your Hand Alumni Campaign – Help Texas 4-H and Your County 4-H Program Win $20,000

February 24, 2017 by

The Texas 4-H Program and Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation are excited to announce a new campaign to reconnect with 4-H Alumni across Texas and our country.  The Raise Your Hand campaign will start on March 1st and go through June 30th.  Each county 4-H Program is encouraged to join with us in promoting the Raise Your Hand campaign through the use of social media  and other marketing assets during the campaign period.

The purpose of Raise Your Hand is to encourage our 4-H alumni to raise their hand and help pay it forward for the next generation of 4-H members.  The goal is to have as many alumni sign up and then at the end of the campaign each county will receive a list of those alumni from their county.  County offices are encouraged to reach out to these alumni and involve them in 4-H by signing their children up for 4-H (if not already), or asking them to volunteer, or maybe becoming a donor to the program.

National 4-H Council has committed a $20,000 prize to the state that has the most Alumni sign up during the campaign period (March 1st to June 30th).  Texas 4-H is confident that we can bring home this grand prize and want to offer an incentive to counties to be part of the award if we win.  Your county, and you as an agent, have the opportunity to receive funds for county 4-H programs and agent professional development.  The top eight county 4-H Programs will each receive a $500 cash prize for program enhancement and the top 10 County Extension Agents (4-H Coordinators) will receive a $100 scholarship to assist with Professional Development during the 2017-2018 year.  The remaining prize money will be invested into state-wide 4-H youth development programs as identified by the 4-H Program and 4-H Foundation.

In addition to the promotional packet, social media, email, and newsletter graphics have been posted on line for use by county offices and 4-H clubs.  These graphics can be found at:  http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/volunteer/#logos.

If you all have any questions please feel free to contact either Toby Lepley with the Texas 4-H Youth Program or Laura Windwehen with the Texas 4-H Youth Development Foundation.
