Texas Nursery & Landscape Association Scholarship

The Texas Nursery & Landscape Association has reached out to Texas 4-H and ask that we share this exciting scholarship opportunity to our 4-H High School Seniors.  The TNLA is offering two scholarships opportunities that 4-H members may be eligible for. The Grow Texas and the TNLA Education and Research Foundation scholarship information is listed below and we encourage you to please forward to your high school seniors so they can have the opportunity to review the information in ample time of the deadline.

4-H Shooting Sports Coach Training – North Region

Registration will open next week, February 13 – March 12, 2017, for the 4-H Shooting Sports Coach Training – North Region. This training will be held on April 1-2, 2017 in Pampa (Gray County, D-1).

4-H Center Camp Registration Now Open!

The Texas 4-H Center is gearing up for another great summer! Camp registration is now open on our website, texas4hcenter.tamu.edu.

There’s a brand new camp coming to the 4-H Center this summer! County Camp IV is centered entirely on outdoor education activities. Activities include fishing, boating, shooting, knot tying, swimming, arrow making, challenge course, and dance. Your favorite 4-H programs such as color run and dance are still included along with star gazing and night outdoor activities.

D11 Photography Contest

The District 11 4-H program is pleased to announce the D11 Photography contest information and rules.  The D11 contest is open to Junior and Intermediate 4-H members only.  Senior 4-H members will go directly to the state contest.

Registration is from February 1 through March 10 and the fee is $10.00.  Late Registration will be from March 11-17 for an additional $25.00.

This year, the theme is “Reflections”. A photo shot off any natural or artificial reflective surface. A well-executed shot can show perfect symmetry or a slightly distorted shot.

Judging of photographs will take place between March 27-31, 2017. All placing photographs will then be electronically displayed at District 11 Spring Spectacular in Victoria on April 7-8, 2017.

2017 District 11 Spring Spectacular

Information for District 11 Spring Spectacular for 2017 has now been released.  All information and entry forms can be found here:  http://d114-h.tamu.edu/district-11-4-h-spring-spectacular/.  Please contact your county extension office for information regarding their county level qualifying contests.  It will be held at the Victoria College Emerging Technology Complex in Victoria Tx!

Deadline to register for District 11 Spring Spectacular is March 17, 2017.  Registration must be completed on 4-H Connect.

District 11 Spring Spectacular will host Fashion Show, Fashion Storyboard, Duds to Dazzle, Educational Presentations, Public Speaking, Quiz Bowls(Beef, Nutrition, & Horse), & Consumer Decision Making!

The theme for the year is Dive into 4-H!  Special thanks to Rush Hoelscher from Nueces Co 4-H in helping to design the logo!

Roundup T-shirt Design Contest

This year’s theme for Texas 4-H Roundup is “DREAM ON“.  We are seeking the help of 4-H members across the state to design this year’s Commemorative Roundup T-shirt.
The winning design will receive credit as the designer, their name and county will be noted on the shirt, as well as a $150 gift card.

2017 Train Like A Champion Livestock Clinic

2017 Train Like a Champion Livestock Clinic

Hosted by Agents in Austin, Burleson, Fayette, and Washington Counties

 

This multi-species educational clinic will include sessions on Hogs, Cattle, Poultry, Rabbits and Sheep and Goats throughout the day. Many of the sessions are staggered so that families may attend multiple sessions.  This is a fantastic opportunity for new and novice families to learn more about what is required to be successful with their livestock projects.  This is also a great recordbook event for those who are working to build a great book!  The clinic is free of charge and great door prizes will be given in each session.2017-train-like-a-champion-livestock-clinic

Karnes 4-H Invitational Hippology Contest

Do you know what Hippology is?  Come find out on March 4, 2017 at the Karnes County Show Barn.  It is a fun and exciting contest open to all Texas 4-H youth to test your knowledge and skills about HORSES! Registration is $15 per person and the preregistration deadline is February 14, 2017.
