District 8 4-H Shooting Sports Coach’s Clinic

Registration is currently open for the 2020 District 8 4-H Shooting Sports Coach’s Clinic.  The cost is $120 per person.

The clinic will be held on November 14, 2020 at ECLA in Stephenville, Texas.  Disciplines offered are Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun, and Archery.

Virginia Virtual Volunteer Conference – October 17, 2020

Virginia 4-H and the Virginia Association of Adult 4-H Volunteer Leaders are offering a half-day virtual volunteer conference.  The details are below.

 When

Saturday, October 17, 2020; 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

 Format

All sessions will be offered through Zoom, and will be accessible online or via telephone

 Cost

This conference is FREE and open to everyone!

 Registration / Session Access

Participants need to register online at https://forms.gle/ZHcncwH7LwZkB9Qm7. Everyone who registers will receive access information to each of the sessions.

 General Sessions

Our welcome will be given by Frank Abbott, President of the Virginia Association of Adult 4-H Volunteer Leaders, and a “State of Virginia 4-H” update by Jeremy Johnson, Assistant Director and State 4-H Leader.  Alyssa Walden, State Program Leader for Youth and Vice-President for Programs of the National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals will provide a mid-day Lunch & Learn session.

 Workshop Sessions

There are 5 fantastic sessions divided into two workshop blocs from which participants can choose.

 Session Recordings

Each session will be recorded, and those registered will receive access to all recordings following the conclusion of the conference.

Karnes County Prospect Shows – November 2020

Karnes County will have two prospect shows in the month of November. Both shows will be held in the Karnes County Show Barn located on Highway 181 between Karnes City and Kenedy.  The shows will be on back to back Saturdays.

The Eagle Ford Shale Goat & Lamb Showdown will be November 14, 2020.

The Dove Country Classic Steer Prospect Show will be November 21, 2020

Both Shows will be giving $500 for overall Grand Champion and $250 for Reserve.  Breed and Division Champions will receive belt buckles in Ring B.  Over $4000 worth of prizes will be given overall for both shows.

2020 Coastal Bend Classic

The Coastal Bend Classic Committee is pleased to announce the 2020 Coastal Bend Classic.  Information for this event is now available at the event website: https://d114-h.tamu.edu/events-and-contests/coastal-bend-classic/.  The event will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Sinton, TX.

Registration is now open on the event website. Early registration will be open from October 1 – November 13, 2020.  Regular registration will be open from November 14 to Day of Show.

2020 Texas 4-H Rabbit Project-Virtual Educational Series-Starts This Week!

Don’t miss the 2020 Texas 4-H Rabbit Project – Virtual Educational Series hosted by the Texas 4-H Rabbit Advisory Board. There will be four different workshops offered starting on Thursday, September 24, 2020.  The workshops will be given on alternate weeks with the next three being scheduled for October 8th, October 22nd, and November 5th.

The workshops will be held on a Thursday evening at 6:00pm via ZOOM.

There is no fee for the workshops, but registration is required in order to receive the meeting links prior to each workshop. Register on 4-H Online (https://v2.4honline.com/#/user/sign-in), now to September 22, 2020.  Registration instructions can be found here.

Fredericksburg Livestock Judging Contest – October 3, 2020

Fredericksburg FFA will be holding a livestock judging contest Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds in Fredericksburg, TX . There will be 8-10 classes with questions, no reasons.

Registration for this event is $20/contestant and is available now at https://www.judgingcard.com/Registration/Info.aspx?ID=11464.

Scantron forms will be used at this event, but you must bring your own.
